Health Programs


Offered seasonally at low cost. 

Zumba is a fitness class that combines Latin music, dance moves and resistance training. In just an hour, you’ll get a full-body cardio workout while also having fun! This class is led by a licensed Zumba instructor and is suitable for participants of all fitness levels.

Capoeira - Not currently offered

Capoeira is a form of martial arts developed by enslaved Africans in Brazil in the early 16th century. Combining dance, acrobatics and song, this class allows children and adults to exercise and learn together. 

Cooking Matters - Not currently offered

This 6-week course teaches parents how to stretch their food budgets and cook healthy meals for their families. Participants practice fundamental food skills including proper knife techniques, reading ingredient labels, and making healthy meals on a $10 budget. At the end of each class, participants take home a bag of groceries, so that they can recreate the meal that they learned how to make. Additionally, all participants who graduate from the course receive cooking supplies, including knives and cutting boards.

Circle of Parents - Not currently offered

Led by a licensed therapist from Aurora Mental Health Center, this group meets weekly to exchange ideas, information and resources related to parenting. Integrating elements of the Circle of Parents model with curriculum from the ABC’s of Parenting Program, the group teaches parents learn how to promote their children’s success through effective discipline and communication.

Family Leadership Training Institute (FLTI)

FLTI is a 20-week program that equips families with knowledge and skills to create positive change at the individual, community and policy levels. The curriculum integrates personal and child development, leadership skill development, civic literacy and civic engagement, and supports each participant in designing a project to address a community issue of their choosing.

English as a Second Language

Tuesdays & Thursdays | 9:00am – 11:00am | $25 for 16 weeks

Designed for students who speak Spanish as their native language, this class teaches participants practical language skills  applicable to their everyday lives.

USCIS Citizenship Exam Prep

Saturdays | 10:00am – 1:00pm | $25 for 13 weeks

In this class, students learn the skills and knowledge they need to pass the English test and civics test at their naturalization interviews. (For more information on the contents of these tests, visit the US Citizenship and Immigration Services website.)
